Smell of fish.......

I'm new to this board so forgive me if this has been asked.

I have a '98 150 that has a strong smell of coolant in the cab. The carpet is not wet but I've seen coolant dripping from the bottom of the truck right below the front of driver door. I know its the core, so how difficult is it to change this out?

Also for those of you who have a '98, have you had any problems with water leaking from the rear glass? My neighbor has the same year truck with the same problem.

My '99 leaks water in the rear window too. I even had the windshield guy squirt a whole tube of sealant around it. Just another common problem. I think they are held in with some bolts, you can try tightening them.

My 97's rear window leaked, but I got it replaced when it was under warranty.

before you change your heater core check the metal pipes from the motor to the core the tube from the rear of the intake to the core was leaking on mine, i first cut it off some then it started leaking lowern, another pinhole so i just pulled my intake and had it threaded to take a screw in type water fitting 1/2 npt.

i say make sure because changing the h/c is a biatch.

Known concern for the rear windows/sliding glass to leak water. I had mine replaced @ 50k. (mileage doesn't mean jack, just thought I"d post that).
As far as the heater core leaking? Haven't seen alot of them, but when they do, there isn't any 'rigging it', to get by. Fairly labor intensive to replace them. Wouldn't want to do it at home. Besides the fact that the a/c has to be evac'd would be the number one stopping point.
Good luck, have fun.
