it's easy to see on the dipstick, but I think it is overpriced.

I think that as far as price and availability (very hard to find on the shelves) there are better choices out there.

I prefer Mobil 1 to Royal Purple

I would rather take the Mobil 1 also. Much more availability. Neither one of them are cheap. Hell, the Mobil 1 is almost $5 a quart.

Royal Purple?

The Royal Purple is rated high by the "racer guys". As far as I know that is where they got started. Good point about avability, though. Mobil 1 is available just about anywhere.

Royal Purple is real big in the refrigeration industry, (amonia compressors) where you don"t need to change oil verry often, if ever. an excelent product.

I have used Royal for several years and found it is a great oil.

It was developed for industrial use and was expanded beyond commercial uses.

I work in a chemical processing plant and we use it exclusively for all motor and pump lubricating.

I use it in every fliud in my truck from the radiator to the rear end and have noticed an ever so slight increase in milleage since.

It does a great job of cleaning too, so I wouldnt recomend it for a vehical with much more than 60 or 70 K miles as it could actually clean well enough to cause leaks in worn seals.

Price wise, I dont think it is to bad and it doesnt stay purple in color much over a few hundred miles on it.

www.royalpurple.com

Just my 2 cents..

Sled...

Mobil 1 at Walmart - comes in a 5 quart jug for just under $20. Best price I have found so far.

Royal Purple, NEO, and the like are actually quite a big step above Mobile 1 and the other parts store brands.

I believe Royal Purple, Amsoil & Redline are superior in quality to Mobile1.

I use Amsoil in the engine and tranny. Use Royal Purple in rear diff.

Check out www.bobistheoilguy.com and/or the other posts that the oil obsessive members write. I had no idea that oil was so debatable unitl I joined this site.

Royal Purple is a great product, we used it forever on our 99 F250 diesel.

We use Amsoil on all other vehicles though. The viscosity testing is much higher than Mobil 1 or any other synthetic oil for that matter. Amsoil knows what they are doing!

Be careful with the words "any other synthetic oil". That is marketing information from Amsoil. There are several synthetics that they did not use in their comparison - because Amsoil lost.

I'm not bashing Amsoil - it is a fantastic product. Their marketing and distribution channels just need to come to terms with the fact that they are not the best any more. 10-15 years ago I would have absolutely put them at the top, but they have changed to a refined hydrocarbon base and are not quite as good as they used to be. A Lubricant like NEO (and a few select others), on the other hand, is a diester based lubricant and it has viscosity and shear index numbers that vastly exceed the current Amsoil formulation.

That being said, I would absolutely run Amsoil if it were available at my local parts house.

You are correct! My wording was slightly misleading. Sorry. I know there are other great oils out there, most are hard to come by (as some say Amsoil is).

I used to run Mobile1, but could not find 5W20, I switched over to Royal purple, turned out to be a great move. In my opinion, you can’t go wrong with the “Purple”. I use it in my truck as well as our
race car

Real Ride

You can buy a case or even a barrel from this place, best price out there http://www.hiperfuels.com/
