04 5.4 F140 idle problems
04 5.4 F150 idle problems
I think Ford techs are stumped on this one. For the past few weeks my 04 5.4 F150 has had some idle fluctuation problems. At times the idle fluctuates between 250 and 750 rpms but not always with that much variance.
The more severe problem I'm having is on occasion, when either warm or cold running, when I come to a stop, the engine will die on me. When I throw it in neutral it will start right up however.
And for the third problem, at times, when attempting to accelarate, the truck seems to hesitate and feels like it "slips" into gear jerkingly.
Took it into Ford last week and luckily, it did stall on them. They reprogrammed "the brain" of the truck but they said it did not solve the idle fluctuation problem. They had me drive it over the weekend and then bring it back on Monday (today). Well, sure enough, twice over the weekend, it stalled again on me.
I just heard from the tech today and it's running fine. They're going to take it overnight to see if it will stall on them so they can diagnose the problem. However, they claim to have never encountered this problem before and seem to be stumped.
Has anyone had this problem? Any advice? I've tried different gases/octanes with no help.
Thanks

I hope you get it fixed. The problem sounds weird! Question, does the A/C have anything to do with it? I have heard that some have had bad idle with the A/C off.
Curious, what should the truck idle at??? Mine idles around 650. Seems low.
