97 5.4l problems
These are possiblities of the problems our 97 f250 5.4l light duty has. You guys think its an easy fix to do on my own? Let me know your opinions please, Thanks!
1. Oxygen Sensor Defective (replaced this today so thats not the problem)
2. Fuel System Running Rich or Lean, Check other codes first.
3. Engine Misfire Condition Repair
4. Fuel Pressure very high or Low Fuel Pump or Pressure Regulator
1. Defective or Loose Fuelcap
2. Evap Canister or hose cracked or not connected.
3. Vacuum Leak at Engine.

Those sound like Autozone printout suggestions.. Do you know what your codes were? Post them here and you will get plenty of suggestions.. Also do a forum search with your codes..
Here is my guess, since you have a 97 5.4,,, If the codes were PO171 & PO174 I would check the rubber elbow on the PCV valve located on the back of the throttle body.. These are bad to rot out and cause a huge vaccum leak.
Find the PCV valve in the passenger side valve cover and trace the tube back,, with the engine running feel for vacuum at the rubber elbows. This is a 20 dollar piece at Ford, cant get it any where else.
