freaking me out!
freaking me out!
ok 2000 4.2 sport 4x4 with m/t come home today went to go back out an hour later and there is green/brown oily stuff dripping off my passenger front mud flap. i thought maybe battery or wiper fluid but after removing battery which by the way what are the two things that have tiny hoses connected the back of the battey tray for? but anyway i found nothing but wire harneses can this be coming from my wires? under battery tray perfectly dry unless it is from the tiny hoses . thanks
dont know what the problem is but i do know what those two tubes are behind the batt. tray those are vacume hoses and they attach to two little boxes that store vacume pressure to run acc. air conditioning switch and thing like that
Could be a blown head gasket. Antifreeze+oil run out down the engine and somehow make it onto the mud flaps.
Either that or you ran over some alien creature on the way home.
Check your antifreeze and oil levels. If they fluctuate or if you have any wierd emmissions you have a blown head gasket.

42000 tipical record had 30k @ 35000 oil change and normal checkups about every 5000. if head gasket woud'nt it smoke run hot or something plus this litterally looks like it's comming from the wires.
Check the heater hoses that are on the firewall on the pass side. The one above the engine is known to leak..... Usually just have to tighten the hose clamp.... Now, check down the spark plug hole.... You'll probably find it full of coolant too..... Surprised your truck is not running rough or have thrown a CEL yet???
FYI, those vacuum hoses also run to your front axle if you have 4x4. That's what it uses to engage the front diff....
You can do a quick check for a blown head gasket, by opening up the rad cap on a COLD engine. Start the engine and if you see lots of bubbles coming up, then that's one queue that you might have a bad gasket.... I had an old Ford LTD that had two blown head gaskets and burnt valves on #'s 4 and 8 cylinders (so I was only running on 6 cylinders)... Anyway, while I had the bubbles in the rad, I never did have oil in the coolant or water in the oil...... Each case will be different, so you just have to be open minded to all the possibilities...
Good luck!!
