Question Help on first F150 purchase

I am a pastor that lives in Pensacola, Fl and after Hurricane Ivan it has become apparent that I need a truck. I am only looking at F-150's. I have appr. $11-13K to spend. I am considering a 2000 4.6 XLT Scab with 89k miles for $10,900. Does this seem reasonable? Also, what should I "look out for" in the way of abuse? The truck will mostly be used for light duty. Is there an "critical" periodic maintenance that is unique to these truck? Thanks for the help!!!

If its a 2wd truck, I'd say its kind of high, considering the mileage. You can go to autotrader.com and find much better deals.

Also, if this is a Florida truck, I would definately do a title search on it to make sure its not a flooded vehicle. carfax.com should be able to run the vin.

Definately high. They are selling brand new 2004 Heritage 4.6 F-150s in DFW for $15,000. The huge rebates combined with the year-end close-out prices give $8,500-$9,000 off.

Autotrader.com and Cars.com

When I search these sites for zipcode 32526 then this seems like a good deal. I certainly would like to spend less, any other online search suggestions?

if it were me, and I'm no expert... I would spend the most I could to get the lowest mileage vehicle. 90k miles on a 5 year old truck is high to me. I would take it to a reliable mechanic, have him check it out.

Do a search on this site for "door crack", "Sliding rear window Leak", "piston slap" and see if this vehicle shows any of these symptoms. Those are the ones that stand out for me.

But like Max said.. you can get a new one for probably less money financed, with the incentives they are having now, then it would cost to finance a 5 year old truck.

I checked out edmunds and got a price on it.. your price is in line with what edmunds suggests... so, its up to you... http://www.edmunds.com/used/2000/for...option.1.Ford*
