Squeel form engine
Squeel form engine
I know belts squeel but is there any other explanation for my problem? When the truck is at idle there is a constant low squeel I can hear from the engine. When driving, the squeel is loud when I slow down around 25-35 mph. Its a low noise again once I go below about 25 mph. When the squeel is loud at the 25-35 mph range, I can press the gas and it goes away.
P.S. my local mechanic cleaned the throttle body thinking that might have been it, but that didnt work. I wanted to see what you all say before I go back to the shop.
Thanks!

You can troubleshoot the squeal.
Take the belt off and remove the top idler pulley. If the bearing is bad, it will be evident (loose, like a goose). Local parts store charges $14.00 for the new pulley with bearing and bolt.

While you have the belt off, start the motor to listen for your squeel. (you can run the motor for a couple of minutes with out it over heating) this will tell you if the problem is the belt or one of it's driven components for sure, and not an air intake or internal engine noise.
Good luck!

I had the same problem with my 2000 f150 at 75,000 it was the IAC vavle. The ford place took care of it for me.
