Unhappy cold start problems

my truck has been kinda weird lately. lately when i remote start it, itll start, bog down or something, then go back to normal. but this morning, it did that but would just die completely. i tried it like 4 or 5 times and did the same thing. i tried giving it some gas the 6th time and it revved a little and died again. finally it started on the 7th time while holding the gas lightly. dont know much about engines and stuff, what should i do? i have a cousin at a ford dealership so i could take it to him to fix whatevers wrong. its a 98 4.6 with 126k miles

IAC...

I have a 99 5.4 that gets 20-30K miles before the IAC is so gunked up that I have ideling and cranking problems. I can pull it off and spray it down with carb cleaner and put it back on and it is fine.
