new to thread and have a question on the timing gears
hi,
i've done a search on this message board looking for timing gear changes on a 300 cid inline 6. I did not come up with an answer that i was looking for.
More information on my f150. it is a 95 2wd single cab 5 spd overdrive with a 300 inline 6. it is a very nice. it was wrecked once and i have elected to rebuild the thing. i have a complete front clip, which by the way, i got for a very nice price including most of the electronics and the wiring harness. besides that, while i have the wrecked front clip off, i have decided to do a tune up. i have a water pump and timing gear to put on.
my question is about the timing gear. how hard is it going to be to put these on. from the little piece of paper i got with the gear set it tells me that i have to heat the gears in oil. how tough is this going to be. has anyone learned anything from doing this that i should know? are there any hints? maybe an article about how to change them. it makes me question the ease of the procedure with the time limit due to the heat issue. how long do i have to put the gears on, once heated?
any help would be appreciated.
thanks
