Same problems, maybe more
I posted this in another forum, but thought I might get some info here as well....
For some time now I have been dealing with some driveability issues. Needless to say the problem still exists after replacing several sensors under the hood. Essentially what happens is the truck has a studder to it at random times and likes to shut off/stall on me at idle or just off idle. But sometimes just to keep me guessing it will shut off under acceleration or steady cruise. Just recently I have had the O/D light on the gear shifter start flashing after the truck has a so called "hiccup". The light doesn't keep flashing indefinetly, but I understand that there should be a code stored none the less.
Now, for unknown reasons, occassionally after the truck shuts off on its own, and I have restarted it, the red theft light in the gauge cluster will come on, and stay on. Question is, is this related somehow, or something totally different, any ideas, something??
For what it is worth, the truck does have a remote start on it, and 24 inch wheels, not sure if it is important to know, and the sensors that have been replaced are the iac, dpfe, ox sensors, tps, cleaned maf & iat<--think that is what it was.

I had the same thing happen on my 2003, would not start randomly, the "hiccups" and the theft light randonly coming on also. Took it into the dealership, had a loose ground so i would check that if it's not a sensor issue.
Thanks for the suggestion spazman, suppose it won't hurt to look into that.
I drove the truck today, it shut off, retstarted it, theft light came on, but this time it was flashing, at a completely random frequency. What are the chances of this being the computer itself taking a dump? I can't imagine what that would set me back.
Anymore ideas are welcome. I need to get this fixed sometime soon so I can sell this thing. 'bout time to find a house.

There is most likely nothing wrong with your truck.
You have a bad ground. Living in Balt near the water has a little to do with it.
Start with the battery cables. They might look ok but check under the insulation.
Good luck-

Well, I checked all the cables, everything seems fine there. Last night, drove to the bank, and parked to use the atm. Got back in, and the truck wouldn't start at all, just cranked. I was content(sp) on leaving it there over night, so I went home, after awhile decided to go back and look at it. The thing fired right up, but ran like crap. This morning I replaced the Transmission Range sensor and the fuel filter. Took it for a drive, thought everything was okay and then it happened. Sitting at a light it shut off. No stumble in the idle, or anything like that. Happened as if I shut the key off. Luckily if started again. But now I have a constant check engine light on. Which is more than I have had since this problem started months ago. Came home, pulled the codes, and got :
P1000- OBII system check imcomplete, this was in both KOEO and KOER
I also pulled the memory codes and got the same P1000 along with P0301 and 306, which are cylinder misfires.
I don't believe the misfires are my problem, so anymore ideas?

The remote start did cross my mind as being suspect. But, I don't see that causing the check engine light to be on constantly. But what do I know. Can anyone explain to me what that P1000 code is telling me specifically? Any ideas will be appreciated.

It means that your battery wasc disconnected or the PCM was reset.
The on board diagnostic II (OBD II) monitors are performed during the OBD II Drive Cycle. The DTC will be stored in continuous memory if any of the OBD II monitors do not complete. I would disconnect the remote start clear the codes and retest after going through a drive cycle.

Well thats 2 votes for taking off the remote start. Problem is I have to get the truck to Tweeter for that, and I'm not sure it will make it. So...are there anymore suggestions before I attempt that drive.
Oh, I am assuming the P1000 code wouldn't cause the check engine light to stay or, nor would the misfire codes. Thing is, I am not getting any other codes from scanning. But the light is still on. Ideas?

The scanner I am using is a Snap-on scanner. Not sure of the exact model number, I can check tomorrow. I am pretty sure it is a good one, it wasn't cheap.
The only code I am pulling when I do a KOER test is the P1000, but like I said the CEL is still on. Strange.

Today I drove the truck around the block to see how it ran. Of course, it shut off on me, and didn't want to restart. So I waited for a couple of minutes and it finally started. I decided to run the scanner again when I got back home. Still getting the P1000 code in KOEO/KOER. However in the memory I got a P1117. Which is something to do with the ECT/ cooling system. Nothing I think that could cause all of my problems.
So I decided to go ahead and clear the codes. The CEL did go off, but the truck still runs like crap. The scanner said a possible cause for the P1117 code could be a faulty PCM, which I am begining to believe is my problem. I am starting to give up on this piece of junk. It's getting old, real old if you know what I mean.
