Running rough, but NO CODES..need help
A little info first.
2001 Screw -4.6l 35,000 miles/ Superchips tuner/Magnaflow 15609/Drop in K & N/ DPFE replaced at 30,000/Fuel filter at 35,000(after it started runnning rough, and not the first time it has been changed)Tranny flushed at 30,000. NO other problems.
The Maf appears clean, No fluid leaks onto the COPS that I can see .No indication of Vacuum leaks.
All of the sudden the other day, when I floored it, it just seemed sluggish and felt what appeared to be a slight miss.
Runs smooth at idle, and at steady acceleration until you stomp it. It does feel like at times it almost lugs in lower rpms when in overdrive.
I have no codes, no cel's or any other indication something is wrong. It does seem to have started after I filled up with gas the other day, but it is at the Chevron station I always fill up at. Could it be bad gas?
Another thing that is ironic. My buddy owns a stereo/alarm shop and is very experienced(over 10 years) in the field. The other day he cleaned up a very messy alarm install job on the truck where the installer of the original system tapped into some of the wrong wires for power, grounds etc. My buddy basically unwired and reinstalled the system. He said "you know, sometimes the truck will run shi%%Y for a few days while it adjusts to the new install". I just laughed and said yeah right, as he is always cracking jokes, could this be somehow true?.
Any help is appreciated....sorry for the long post

Did you check around for vac leaks? I had similar symptoms on my 98 Exp w/5.4L, and started searching. Found a cracked elbow on a hose near the back/top of the engine. Seemed to be tight enough at low RPMs, but kick it up a bit and the vac was too much, and it would start sucking wind. Replaced it and the rough running went away.
