03 Doesnt always start

Hey guys, posting a question for my dad. He has a 03 F-150 5.4L , he just replaced battery, hes had it checked and its a good battery. Sometimes his truck wont start, and he will have to get a jumpstart. It happens often and he said if he turns on the A/C eventually his winshield wipers will go off (reverse pol thing?).
If he leaves his car door open for more than two minutes he wont be able to start. Thinking maybe voltage regulator, not sure just a guess. Any one got any ideas?

Most auto parts stores can check the alternator on the truck. I know NAPA will. Take it to them and have them check it. On the truck will allow to check both the alternator and the voltage regulator since they are both together. If either is bad then he should still be under warrantee with an 03 unless he puts a lot of miles.

Thank you for the advice WLF. Hes going to go check it out today. Sadly we alternate 800 mile roundtrips every other weekend so yes he is out of warrantee. Again thank you for the advice will update when I hear news.
