oil filter change

I have recently bought a 2002 F-150. I am planning on changing the oil tomorrow but am not sure about the best way to get at the oil filter. It seems to be in a tight spot. I am just looking for some advice on how to get on it and get it off.

welcome!

Do a search on "oil change" and/or "oil filter removal" here on the boards.

Me personally I use an end cap wrench. They are about $3-$5 bucks at the parts store and I have one for both the Motorcraft filter (Highly recommended filter to use) and one for standard capped filters. They work great and are very easy to get on the filter and will even remove a really tight filter.

Good luck!

I have an '01 4x4 w/ a 5.4, and I needed an Ethiopian contortionist to help change my oil filter! I bought a oil filter relocator from Summit Racing and solved that problem. Also added a Fumoto Oil drain valve. I can now do a true 5 minute oil change
