Darn truck

Darn truck

I have a 1986 F150 that runs about 15 minutes and quits it acts like its not getting any fuel but I checked the fuel pumps both front and rear work it gives error codes 15 and 31 it will restart after it sits for about 4 hours any help would be great.

Did you change the fuel filter ?? Could the tank have dirt in it that gets sucked in to the line and cuts off your gas supply...Both these things happened to my old 1983 ford...And it was driving just like yours is...

Sometimes temp related failures are caused by the primary ign system. ( ign module or dist. pick up) The ign module can be tested at most parts stores. Thsy can sometimes devlop an open in a circuit that when it gets hot causes it to fail. I have seen them tested on the truck by starting the engine and using a blow dryer to heat up the module and see if you get the same problem. Module is easy to change, Pick up in the dist. is a litle tricky but not a huge job.

Thanks for the quick reply.I did change the fuel filter and had the ignition module checked but not heated I,ll give that a shot.Can the pickup be checked?
