Changing head gasket

Hello...I'm almost ready to put the head for my 300 (4.9) L6 on my block. A guy I hired, a former mecanic's helper, to help me with this didn't bother showing up this weekend, so I'm on my own. I snugged up the manifolds (did not torqe them as I now have to borrow a good torque wrench) and I prepped the block the best I could. I put some degreaser on a scotch-brite pad, so not to drip too much crap into the block, and scrubbed, then went over it again the same way with carb cleaner. Also did that little ridge on the top of the cylinder wall with carb cleaner. I got it nice and shiny (not as shiny as if it were machined, but it looks good). Is there anything else I should do to prep the block? The head is fine. I got it machined, pressure tested, and got new exhaust valves and guides. Thanks for any suggestions. --Jim
