Question Misfire detected #2 Cylinder

Hi, Truck was running a little rough about the time I got DTC P0302, misfire detected in #2 cylinder. Pulled #2 spark plug and where there is useually a .35 gap in the plug there was .00 gap, the wire was smashed tight to the electrode. My non-mechanic mind does not have a clue as to what might have caused this. I have a feeling that it isn't good. Any Ideas or thoughts would be appriciated 2000 F-150, 4x4, 4.6, 70K, automatic.
Thank you

could be a bridged gap, foreign body or a mechanical impact. Loosened carbon from the top of the piston or, god help you, the piston struck it from a worn wrist pin or crank bearing. If it runs fine now, it was probably a piece or rogue carbon. Try you a seafoam treatment.

Thank you Throttle, I have read a few posts on these very informational forums about Seafoam. It sounds like that would be worth a try. My truck does seem to run fine now but I am afraid to put my foot in it. Another friend Had some thoughts of maybe a piece of ring or a little chip of piston and recommended a compression check on all cylinders. He also had the same fears as you about the piston hitting it. With my fingers crossed, I will run a compression check today then a seafoam treatment. Thanks again!
