94 bronco idle, shift, start problems

Never had to post a thread, thankfully I found this forum because my 94 Bronco in perfect condition suddenly started doing weird things, and I'm definitely not very sharp on sensors and electronics. It's a 5.8, automatic trans.

After being garaged for the last 2 months, I went to use it the other day and as soon as the truck started, it went into a very high idle condition, approx. 2000rpm in park. Goose the accelerator, and it goes back to normal idle for a second, then right back up to 2000. It does this repeatedly, even when hot. Disconnecting and reconnecting the battery had no effect. Also, the vehicle is very hard to start, and I have to put the pedal to the floor to get it to start. It cranks great, doesn't even fire or sputter until it starts. While running, there is no sputter or hesitation. Also, the trans will not shift under normal accel from 1 to 2, 3, or 4th gear until it revs up to about 3500 or 4000 rpm. Under hard acceleration it will shift normally, not slipping. Coincidentally the torque converter was just replaced 500 miles ago, but it seems that the 3 problems are related - at least I hope so as far as the tranny goes.

It is only throwing a CEL under hard accel, I will have to take it to a dealer to find out if it is holding any codes. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks again.

My 93 5.8 automatic just started doing this exact same thing. Anyone know why?
