Lean Condition Bank 1 & 2

Just changed the EGR valve and now I am getting Error code for Lean Condition on Bank One and Bank Two. AnyIdeas?

Probably leak in EGR gasket. Did you replace the gasket or use RTV sealant? Do a search on here. You'll find plenty of posts regarding those codes. My truck is doing the same right now.

I think spray004 is right on the money.

I assume you are getting p0171 and p0174.

Look up your OBDII codes in this reference and look at the possible causes column...

Okay I replaced the EGR Valve Gasket and now I am getting Insufficient EGR Flow again. I am assuming that the line is blocked by carbon. 96 F-150 5.0. What all is involved with clearing the line?

Another question... does anyone know a site that hass the error codes and possible causes to them?

Thanks,
Hub

Okay... Took it to a mechanic and the New EGR valve is not working according to him. He said take it back and get a new one. Problem is they must be really popular, no one has any in stock. Any Ideas? I noticed the green vacum line is not pulling any vaccum. Can it be the little Black canister that line plugs into? I am having a new EGR valve coming but it will take two days to get here.

That green vacuum line will not always have vacuum. Im not sure how the 1996 model is configured but you can read some discussion about the EGR and some of its components here...

Well I am at my wits end... Still getting p0401.. I have had 2 new EGR Valves and the ports were not carbonized, according to my mechanic. What the heck else can cause this?

If I remember correctly the p0401 (insufficent flow if I also remember correctly) is caused 90% of the time due to a bad DPFE sensor...

Okay so I have an update... I Changed the EGR Pressure sensor (that Oriellys Auto Parts say is not made by anyone but Ford, and is a Salvage or Dealer item ) and reset the code. I drove it about 50 miles today and did not get the Check Engine Light... .

Seems that the Sensor was not reading the right amount of EGR Flow.

Happy again...
