The problem is the location of the spark plugs in relation to the access. If you don’t get the wires on good then they can miss fire to the block. This usually happens when accelerating since that is when resistance inside the combustion chamber is greatest.
I had the same problem with OEM Ford wires and with Jacob’s wires. I switched to Taylor wires and used non-conducting grease on the inside of the plug, PROBLEM SOLVED. The Taylor wires give a nice CLICK when you push them down over the spark plug.
Try using dielectric (spark plug) grease with the Ford wires, that may help.
Good luck...

You have a 1997 F150?

You should have COP's (coil over plug) on your engine...

temp1,
97 and 98 had duel coil packs with wires. COP started sometime in 1999.

Thanks for the info.

My Haynes manual shows 1997 thru 2002 and I assumed the engines and components were similar for those year models.
