Just got 1999 f 150 long bed...

And had no problems until today, I started the truck and the service engine light came on. I just sunk all my extra cash into the down payment and so forth to get this truck and cannot afford to take it in. So do I just park it?

Also,
Just because the check engine light is on, doesn't mean you can't run the vehicle. I had a defective DPFE sensor on my 98, ran it that way for a week or two before I had the time to change it. As long as the light is not flashing, don't worry to much about it. Flashing means there is a mis fire, I would be more concerned about that.

You could have left your fuel cap loose, this will also trigger a check engine light.
