Check Engine light won't turn off

Just to say first before the rest of the email. It's a 1997 Ford F150 XL Scab Long box 4x4.

Ok, the battery's been reset and the differentials have been topped off just to make sure some weird sensor there is the problem. Seems that this morning it has been humid and warm and the check engine light has come on.

What could be the problem if it is attributed to heat or humidity? However, the engine temp gauge reads its normal below 1/4 mark so that seems to be quite cool so there isn't a problem with heat in the engine I think.

The plugs haven't been changed for a long time, could that be the problem or is there any easy access sensors that would need to be cleaned?

Last ditch effort is to take it to Ford.

go to autozone they will let you barrow thier obd2 scanner and you bring it back all you do is have to put down like a holding fee till you bring it back no charge then you scan your engine find out what the problem is and clear the code all for the price of gas to autozone and back, i just hope you got one near buy if you dont i would just buy the scanner like 100$ unless it is under warenty then i would just take it to ford hope this helps

That would be a great idea except one thing. I'm from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. I don't think we have an autozone because I thought that's an american franchise.

I'll check around see if that's possible from anyone else.

However you get around to it, you need to have your truck scanned for codes. The dealership will charge you money (I think something like $60-$70 US ?)

Otherwise you're just shooting in the dark.
