Engine sputtering????
Engine sputtering????
I have a 98 f150 with a v6. I don't know how to explain this. But the engine seems to sputter sometimes when I stop. I wouldn't say that it is cutting out, just acts like it wants to die. As soon as I give it some gas it goes. It has 90,000 miles on it. Could it be the fuel fliter? Water in the gastank? Any ideas? thanks
if you run to much of the fuel injector cleaner it is also hard on them cause that has happen to me before i ran it to often
but i would try a fuel filter to just to make sure before i got into a lot of heavy detail

got a quesion for you crash
Mine does it also,, is it as soon as you start it back up after a short drive? Is it warm if not hot out maybe over 85 out? humid?? I think some how the fuel rails are getting warm and not injecting the fuel in properly, I have a super chips tuner that allows me to scan codes, and nothign comes up aftew mine does it, i change my fuel filter every year, but it seems to do it right after a short trip in the heat and high humidity, noy all the time but ever couple of months it will spurt, all i do is put it in neutral or park rev it a little and it goes away
I use a fuel injector cleaner about every 5,000 miles or so. I'm in Oklahoma. It's always humid here in the summer. I started noticing it when I started using the AC this year. At first I thought it might be the AC putting a strain on the engine. But it kept doing it after I turned off the AC. I notice it when I come to a stop sign. When I come to a stop it will sputter for a second or two. But then the engine will run normally.
