Question New 5.4 have the power?

Im looking @ stepping up to the new F-150 but the lack of power from the reviews is disturbing.

Fourwheel mag says they were "scratching there heads when the Tundra had similar times track times with 60 less HP!" Someone with the 04 log in and clear this so daddy can buy a new truck.

The 5.4 3V runs just fine. I pulled a 5000 lbs (approx) load 250 miles and it did alright. Most car rags don't mention that the '04 F150 is heavier than any other comparible half ton pickup out there, so yeah, it'll feel a little lazy down low. I think the drive-by-wire has something to do with it too, my '04 feels a lot less responsive than my '97 5.4.

You won't do wrong with the new 5.4

Power to weight. The Tundra is much lighter, so could keep up with less power.

The F-150 is more at home with a trailer behind it. You won't be disappointed with the 5.4, but the only way to know for sure is to go out and test drive both vehicles. Then you'll know which is more suited for you.

keep in mind you are buying a truck, not a race car. ill bet that the ford is cheaper than the toyota, stronger than the toyota, more capable of hauling weight than the toyota, is cheaper to repair than the toyota when the time comes and just plain looks and sounds better than the toyota(especially with flowmasters)
if you want something that is faster than the toyota buy a mustang or a lightning.

power responses

Thanks for all the insight on my post. As far as faster, Im seeing alot of great press on the new Titan which is heavier than the F150. I dont need a race car, just dont want to be disappointed going up and down the CA grades. I hate car salesman so I havent test drove yet, plus I wanted peoples experiences of ownership. My 97 Dakota v8 was great just quality was seriously lacking (POS). Plus, most of the press has definitely commented on power compared to the new titan v8?
