I don't have a solution.. but I can tell you that I wasn't able to get mine out.

My number #4 plug wire (furthest back on passenger side) on my 4.6L would not come out.

I used the tool that they use to pull spark plug wires and it still wouldn't come out and also ripped off the cap.

Anyways, this was around the time my spark plug blew in my #3 cylinder... So since I was removing the head anyways I instructed my friend with smaller hands to pull as hard as possible on the actual plug wire.. the wire broke and to this day the plug cap is still in there

I'm going to work on it today and will let you know what I find out... I'm guessing it's just melted in there?

PS. Alot of the parts places I called would only sell spark plug wires in full sets.. but if you call with part number most dealers can order just one and save you some money.

try spraying some silicone lubricant just inside the boot, you don't want it on the outside.if you don't think you can do that just try gettin anything down in there to tear the boot apart since you allready have to replace it.just make sure you blow the hole out very good when you're done.and spray some silicone lube on the insides out the boots and it will prevent that from happening again

When you are installing the plugs use never seize on the plug threads and dielectric grease on the boots. This will help prevent the boot from sticking to the plug.

Try using an Exacto knife to cut the boot off.
