HEY NEW TO THE SITE....

I RUN 265/75 16s AND MY SPEEDO HAS BEEN OFF FOR SOME TIME. LOOKING TO RECALABRIATE IT. SHOULD I GET THE COMPUTER REPROGRAMED OR REPLACE THE VVS GEAR?

AND JUST WHAT IS THE VVS GEAR AND WHERE IS IT???

1) For future reference it is considered that you are yelling when you post in all caps (ie, its rude).

2) Do you have the digital odometer or the analog? If it is the digital one, you need to get your computer reprogrammed. If its the analog you need to change the gear, which should be located somewhere on the rear differential I believe (do a search on VSS).

 

Welcome ! 1997 = the gear is at the transmission (4X2) or transfer case (4X4). If you do search, try "VSS". Here is a guide.

then what is the cable coming from the top of the differnetial?

 

Trucks with RABS (rear anti-lock brakes) have an ABS sensor that mounts to the top of the differential housing and reads 1-channel.
