engine removal

has anyone had experience taking there engine out of there 97-03 f-150? i've heard horror stories of having to lift the cab and thigns like that. I have a 3" inch body lift i would think with the transfer case and tranny un hooked it would come out with only little problems? Any experiences or tips ???

thanks ahead of time!

i removed mine without lifting the body. I dropped the tranny and t-case then lifted. I also have a 3" body which helps get to things. After doing that i did some research and realized lifting the cab is really easy. I'd say it depends on your intentions. If you just need to pull a head then lift the cab, if you need to get into the engine pull the motor. My 2 cents! If you put the body lift on your truck you should already have an idea of how easy it is. 8 bolts, disconnect brakelines, steering, radiator and heater hose, unplug tranny and engine and a few other odds and ends and up with the cab. But if you want to do it the old fashion way yes it can be done and it is not that bad.

I've done it without a body lift. Hard, but possible. Make sure your engine crane can go high enough to clear the truck.
