I'm going to change my spark plugs this weekend and need to know the torque and if anti-seize on the threads is a good idea. The chiltons book I looked at does not list the torque. I have a 2000 F150 with the 4.6 L V8 and 83000 miles. Thanks.

 

Anti-seize compound is a good idea for sure.

My Hayes manual calls for spark plug torque of 84 to 168 in-lbs.

You may find it easier to raise the truck and remove the front wheels. I'll certainly do that next time on mine. Everything is right in front of you then.

You have probably been reading the posts on blown spark plugs. Retorque them often to make sure they don't blow out.

 

Thanks for the info. I changed the plugs today. How often do they need to be retorqued? While I was working on the engine, I replaced the fuel filter, cleaned the iac, the egr valve and its passageway, and the throttle body. The whole process took about 4 hours.
