SES light and DTC codes....need opinions

Vehicle info:

2001 SCREW 4.6l 32,000 miles
Magnaflow 15609
Superchips Microtuner
K & N drop in filter
Currently1435 miles into an auto RX RINSE phase

Well, today I get an SES light. Truck is running fine. I hook up the Superchips and read the DTC's and get the following codes:

01---P0401----EGR Flow Insuff Detected
02---P1635----Tire/Axle Out of acceptable range

Okay, the P0401 should trigger the SES light, not the P1635, so either they both happened at the same time, or the P0401 happened last but got numbered as code number 01 I don't know.

My questions are these:

Could the RX phase somehow cause the EGR code? I have read it can trigger codes, but the EGR? Or could it just be a fluke and wont happen again?

Is there a sensor in the axle? What could cause the P1635 code. I did get new rims (16") and new tires Nitto 265 75 16's a few months ago. I also have Edelbrock IAS shocks . I recalibrated for my increased tire size, could I have thrown that code when I recalibrated with the superchips?

Anyway, I cleared the codes and am waiting to see if they come up again. I am still under factory warranty, and also have the Ford ESP, so maybe it is covered if it turns in to a problem.

Your responses are appreciated.

Well, I still throw the code. I guess I'll go ahead and replace the EGR. Its only about $35.00 and see what happens. I'm under warranty, but I hate having to leave the Truck for minor stuff like that.

Someone said the Tire/axle code may be an ABS sensor's voltage being out of spec. I havent thrown that code again, so maybe its transient.

Any other thoughts are appreciated

rbraughn,

The trans/axle code will always be present anytime you alter the factory setting (like you did when you change for a different rim size) This is prefectly normal and will be there any time you read the codes. It simply means that your computer is looking at and working a paramiter that is not factory stock for that model year. No harm will come and it will be there the next time you read codes, it is also a soft code(which means it will not throw a check engine light "cel" ) To return the axle code to stock, if you change rim size again scroll thru the tires sizes till you get to stock then enter.

The trouble codes list themselves last one first.

Good luck with the P0401, and forget the P1635.

Thanks for the reply. I have been busy reading all the P0401 posts (should have done that before posting, I should know better)

I returned my program to stock, took out the K & N etc, and will see if the Tire/Axel code returns since it is now back at the stock setting. It has thrown the EGR code since returning to stock.

I will pull a vacuum on the EGR to see if it stalls, and if it does I might change the DPFE.

Funny thing is, I have a 2001 and it has the small black one, not the metal one I wonder if they changed it before I bought it (It had 16,00 miles on it when I bought it)

I just resolves the same 401 code today. It seems that 2001 was a change over year for the DPFE sensor model. They gave me a metal one but the plastic was listed for 2002. Replaced the sensor and cleared the code and the truck runs good as new.

I tested the EGR by pulling vacuum off the top of it, and the engine stumbled hard indicating the EGR was ok, so I went ahead and took it to the dealer and it was the DPFE sensor.

Evidently there is more than one updated version of the black plastic one( I already had the plastic version). The new one is much thinner (about 1/4 inch thick) and has a small raised circular spot on the top of it.
