Checklist for replacing 4.6L F-150 Romeo cylinder head

Thanks to everyone so far for your help. I wanted to post what I've got now and see if theres anything I'm missing. I'd like to be able to remove old head and install new one all in one day.

I have:
-4.6L Romeo cylinder head from junkyard - checked and machined
-Head Gasket from Fel-Pro
-Valve cover gasket (on-order)
-Exhaust Gasket (on-order)
-10 head bolts (on-order)

Can anyone suggest other stuff I will need... like tools or materials? ie. Do I need any sort of gasket adhesive or lube?

I would like to minimize the number of trips I have to make to the dealer/parts shop while working on my truck.

My friend is good with automobiles and we're going to work together in his workshop(plenty of tools) and follow the torque spefications and details from the Chilton's manual. Wish me luck!

Thanks for any tips!

This is a PI Swap article on a TBird, but it should give you a good idea of what to expect on an F-150. If you go to either of the two big Mustang sites and search the modular forums, you'll get tons of posts on 96-98 guys swapping PI heads.

From what I've read, you should be able to re-use your valve cover and exhaust gaskets.

What kind of head bolts are you getting?

Thanks for the link. What's PI?

I'm buying all new gaskets and head bolts..

The head gasket from ford dealer was $130, so I bought it from Kragen instead for $59(Made by Fel-Pro).. Everything else(Valve cover gasket, Exhaust gasket, and 10 head bolts) I am buying from the dealer for $81.00 total - I figured I better just get new stuff since I'm doing all this labor.. don't know if this is a good idea or unnecessary?

I also am going to get intake mainfold gasket(s) but I need to give them my VIN in order to get the correct part.. that set is going to be around $25.00 they say.
