replaced alternator and starter solenoid

has anybody else had to replace the alternator or starter solenoid? i thought it was kinda odd for em to go out cause it happened a while ago and the truck was only like 3 years old with about 50,000 miles.the solenoid i didn't mind cause it would still start,i just had to start it with a screw driver and didn't have a radio, but it got me home.the alternator on the other hand left me stranded.and i was also wondering if anybody knew of an alternator rebuild kit for the 130 amp cause if it goes out again i don't wanna pay another 200 bucks.

I did the kit 1st to save money, turns out it was the Altenator! Not hard to change out. Remove the air intake assembly. Disconnect the Altenator wiring. Use a socket wrench on the belt tentioner and reove the belt. I believe only two bolts holding the Altenator.
