dead battery??? Nope!! - please help

I went out to run some errands this morning and only got half way done. As I came out of the hardware store, the my 2002 F-150 wouldn't start. The entire truck went dead. There is a clicking noise coming from either the Relay 1 or Relay 2 fuse and the door lights are blinking. I can get light power, but nothing else. When I tried jump starting it, still nothing. Should I just check these relay fuses or could something else major be awry???

Check the connections at the starter, battery, and the firewall.I had the same problem and it was a loose starter wire. :santa:

I had a problem that sounds similar to yours. It happened this time last year. A friend who was an Electrical Engineer had come to town and I had given him a ride in my truck. Stopped downtown and I came back to my truck, My 01 S'crew wouldn't start.

Made clicking sounds when trying to turn on igniton, inside lights would come on, but power locks were flaky. Looked at fues and wire connections to battery and starter, not loose. Tried a jump from another vehicle, no luck. Had to have it towed to the Dealer.

Fixed by replacing the battery. One of the plates in the old battery had shorted out some of the other cells in the batery.

I suggest the following:
After checking the cable connections and making sure no Maxifuse had blown, I'd have the battery tested at an autoparts store to see if it has a similar problem. Should be able to dignose most battery related issues that way.
Good Luck.

Bob,its ironic you say that about the battery.About a month ago I had to replace my battery under similar conditions. But,when I tried to start mine the lights went dim and would not recover for a few minutes.I had the battery load tested and it was bad.Replaced free under warranty.I didnt suggest the battery in my original post because he had no signs, like mine,of a bad battery. But,it is possible.

My '97 did the same thing before. I replaced the negative battery cable end a while back because it corroded away and it worked loose. I went out and wiggled the cable end, it arced and everything worked like a champ. I replaced the entire cable after that and haven't had a problem since.
