Help needed in texas 96 F150 4.9 stalls
Howdy ya'll my 96 F150 is stalling. no codes when the ecm is read. seems to be no spark, ign module and coil are new, no help. It stalls then will not fire, after some time it cranks and then stalls again. Help please if you can. Thanks from Dallas area.
Hey neighbor!
More info on the engine size would help, but if in fact it does eventually start, more than likely it is not an ignition problem. When it won't start, hook up an ignition spark tester to the plug wire to check for fire. I would bet there is spark. (I am assuming you do not have 8 individual coil packs like in the 5.4L)
I would lean more towards idle control valve or fuel delivery. How well does it run when it does finally start and do you have to keep your foot on the gas pedal? Does it die after warming or or ????

Dad had the same problem. Fuel pump. Showed good pressure at idle but the pump would over heat then give out. His was an 1989 and there were two pumps. The newer ones may have only one pump. One was a low pressure pump in the tank and the other was closer to the engine and was a high pressure pump. His in tank pump was bad. Next time it stalls check fuel pressure.
