hoses

I noticed that one of the hoses on my 1999 F150 5.4L engine is starting to dry-rot. Would the local hardware store have hose or tubing that I could use to replace hoses on the engine with and if so, what specifications would I be looking for.

Heat, oil resistant etc.

go to a local auto parts store and get the correct hose for the application needed. it might need to be pre molded or have a pressure rating. hose are cheap compared to towing you truck to a shop

I think most of the engine hoses are vacuum hoses and I certainly don't want something that is going to suck itself shut.

I guess I can get any color hose I want as long as it is black...

Hmm, maybe I should carry a roll of duct tape in the truck in case I ever have a vacuum leak.

I think I would really like to replace the hoses with fluorescent colors maybe. Yeah, thats the ticket! That should make a ford mechanic drop his/her coffee cup when he/she opens the hood.
