2004 5.4

the new 2004, 5.4 3 valve per cylinder engine, has me curious, seems to me that one valve has to match the work of two, how can this be done? 4 valves per cylinder make's more sense in the balance perspective. I own a 2002 f-150 4wd, with a 5.4, will not go into detail abought the endless list of suspension problems with it (All coverd by warrentY) interested to know how othier f-150 owners are doing. Last f-150 was a 97, 250,000km and never a problem. thanks all.

The 5.4L 3v has two intake and one exhaust valve. The exhaust valve has a larger diameter than each intake valve. Although the area is not quite as large as the two intake valves, exhaust are does not need to be quite as large as the intake.
