Spark Plugs

Hey all it's been a while since I posted any questions...well here is one that bothers me.

I have been reading about all the plug blowouts on the triton motors. I have a 2001 5.4L and have been hearing nocking or ticking noises in the morning when I start it up. I am ruling things out as I go such as an exhaust leak (I held a towel over the pipe and the ticking did not get louder) but now I want to retorque my spark plugs.

Well I just looked at my motor and I would really like to know the procedure to get at my plugs. I'm not really technically inclined when it comes to motors but I am used to changing plugs on my old '85 chev shortbox.

Anyone have good instructions on how to get at these plugs? I have 43,000 miles on my motor so I'd like to check them anyway just for the hell of it.

Thank a bunch!
-Justin

all i can say is have fun... those sprak plugs are a pain in the @$$ to get to especially the rear ones i've had to replace the wires and plugs on mine but yours have coil packs on each ignition module so yours is easier then mine. but since ur not to mechanically inclined find a friend who is or take it to a shop and have it done. but sometimes knocking could be a bad lifter mine knocks but its like a slight click doesnt alter performance any and my dad worked for Ford for 19 years he said heh dont spend any money on it till it breaks no use doing it when nothin is really wrong. so save urself money and time

1) There are a TON of threads exactly like this on this board...you can search for more info and you should be able to find anything you need.

2) this website is a good one: it has two small video clips you can watch by moving your mouse over them (theyre about half way down the page). THe site also tells you all the extensions and whatnot you will need.

i mean my dad showed me what i needed to do and everything to replace plug wires and plugs and it took like 4 hours for the plug wires alone to be replaced. the dang wire clips are a B1tch to get undone and then u gotta make sure the wires are routed properly so that it doesnt interfere with any moving parts i mean its do-able its just hard on the knuckles and but if u do have fun=P
