Lightbulb 300hp engine swap

Im new. Yalls post have been very helpful, so maybe they will be again. I have a 99 f-150 and was wondering would the 3-valve 5.4 liter engine swap easily into my 99 5.4 liter, 4x2, auto 4 spd truck? The extra 40 horses i would get would be a great improvement along with the 99 weighing a lot less than the 04's. If anybody knows it would be greatly appreciated.

330cid,

The first thing that jumps to mind, is the difference in the two vehicle's computer system. I don't have the answers, just the questions!

Good luck!

i can think of 4 thing i would do before this.

add an aftermarket supercharger would be the simplest.

if you want to swap then swap either a lightning 5.4 with the supercharger or the 300 hp 4v from a navigator.

last, i would get a set of ported 5.4 heads and cams and you would also hit the 300 hp mark.

i would think all of the above would reward you with equal or better results than the 3v swap.

I'm with the supercharger. It's much easier and dwarfs the swap's increase in HP.
