2004 5.4 Sounds Like A Diesel
Two years ago, I took my company F-150 4.2 v6 back to the dealer because the rear tire hanger had failed (luckily I was on the jobsite and not the freeway), and I asked the service manager to also tell me why the truck sounded like a diesel. I had taken over the truck with 27K miles on it, the dealer had done all of the oil changes at 3K intervals, and now had 31K miles on the truck.
He called me back to tell me that the main thrust (?) bearing was bad, and Ford replaced the engine...
Good Luck!
