Hesitation...?
OK, I have my first issue with my 01 Screw 5.4. This morning, after the truck had sat for 4 days, I started it to head to work. It started and drove fine. When I got on the freeway, if I was cruising at 1/8-1/4 throttle, I would get a significant hesitation/miss/bucking. No CEL, and gauges appear normal. Over 1/4 throttle fine, under 1/8 throttle (idle to slight pressure) fine. SO, any thoughts out there?? 43K miles, K&N filter, otherwise stock. Fuel filter?? Time for plugs??
TIA

Even though I have the V6, I had a bad miss at anything over say 1/8th throttle. It turned out to be the coil pack. My SES light came on, but only after quite a bit of driving. My guess is one of your coils is gone. Once the light comes on you can have the codes read. from there you can determine which coil it is.
BTW - you should be changing that fuel filter every 15K miles. Not to harp on you, but it really does make a difference in the performance of the truck.

I have just had a similar problem after refueling a nearly empty tank. Truck drove fine to gas station, now bucks at idle or surges during low RPM. Throwing codes 0136,0156,1131 and 1151. All for O2 sensor failure. I'm finding it hard to believe that two sensors failed at the same time, thinking bad tank of gas. No coil code showing, so don't think that's it. If I find the culprit, I'll pass it on. 2001 Supercrew 4x2 with 52,000 miles.
