P1336 Code

I have a 2002 F150 4.2l v6 with 11,000 miles. It was in a wreck about 10 months ago and after the body repairs and 500 miles it began to display the check engine light. The OBD II code it gives is P1336.

I took it to a Ford mechanic who proceeded to repair a ground and then a relay. The light and code returned each time. He then replaced the wiring harness on the engine and the computer and then the camshaft position sensor and the crankshaft position sensor. After each repair, the code returned.

The mechanic has now thrown up his hands in bewilderment and says his only solution is to change out the engine.

The only engine symptoms are rough engine starts and stops along with a slightly rough idle and low gas mileage.

Does anyone have any ideas of what else to check or recheck?

I didn't think that Fords utilized the learn procedures. My mechanic has not mentioned that.
