My father had a 6.9 in an 86 F350 4x4. Sold it to a kid this year to start his plowing business. It had a C-6 auto that was indestructable. The truck itself was very reliable and tough. Only one draw back. It had no power. I mean none at all. It was actually a hazard to drive. It could barely get through an intersection before the light changed. Once moving, it was OK, unless you hit a big hill. But keep in mind that this truck was severely abusesd and had several drivers. It was a company vehicle, so we towed and plowed and hauled a bunch of equipment with it. The things we did to that truck were just mean. I remember pull starting a loaded Mack withthat truck!

For the first 5 years my father drove it as his personal truck. He always hated Fords, so I think it took a lot of abuse from him just because he hated the blue oval on the front. But it took it well, and still drives today.
