Turn off computer reporting

Is there any way to turn off the error reporting from the computer?

I just passed my emissions test but failed a visual because of a check engine light saying my EGR valve has insufficeint flow.

Thanks.

From what I understand the computer will still report codes.. The smog vehicle inspection report has a computer printout of the error codes.

The only thing my last emissions test involved was them plugging into the computer and checking the gas cap...... Didn't look under the hood or shove anything into the tailpipe at all.

So, I guess as long as there are no codes in the computer, you pass?? I asked "what if I just cleared the codes before I got here" and they said they would know that too..... Something about the computer keeping track of how many full on/off cycles the engine as had since the last reset.....

Don't think there is any way to shut down the computer error reporting..... Just gotta fix whatever it says is wrong and have so many cycles on it before testing anymore.......

Thumbs up

Here in NJ, if you try to clear the codes they will fail you because the computer is not in ready mode (it has to be driven and collecting data) I had the same problem and it wound up being caused by carbon buildup in the EGR ports. my mechanic cleaned the carbon from the ports and reset the light. it looks like that did the job
