Unhappy Air intake problems

I just bought an aftermarket air intake off of ebay for my 1998 4.6L 150. I hooked everything up right and it seemed to be running fine, out of the blue it started making a wierd noise on and off and the engine idle would get all out of wack. It would make the noise for a little bit than quit and the engine would regain a normal idle. But its been doing it more and more and I don't know what it is. Help!

it sounds like the MAF wires are loose.

do a search on here for "MAF" and "clean" cause you might as well clean the MAF while you have it out checking to make sure the connector plug is clean and tight.

this is my guess to your described issue.

Maf connections are a great place to start. I would also make sure that the intake is properly seated on the throttle body and that you don't have some sort of intermittent air leak( could the noise be air entering the intake behind the maf?)

As mentioned, simple things first. Are the MAF and IAT sensors pluged in? Are the two hosed in front of the Throttle body pluged in? Are they connected to the other end, one to the IAC valve and the other one to the valve cover? Are they blocked in any way? Are the clamps on the system tight? Are there any cracks in the tubes, connectors or elbows. Are they obstructed in any way? If the Air filter dirty?

i agree with JMC, after installing my K&N the hose to my Idle Control blew off! with just a rev or two. the crank case hose?(correct me if im wrong) could be a problem, but most likely the idle control hose slipped.
