Hello!! And 5.4 L question
Hello I just found this site from a tip I was given on a tractor discussion board.
I'm in Oshawa, ON Canada and have just bought my first F150. I haven't even picked it up from the dealer yet. It's a 2000 F150 XLT 4x4 with Off Road Package and it's a supercab shor box.
I have drove F150s before as my company trucks were F150s at my last place of employment. I had a 98 F150 XL 4x2 that I drove for 4 years then I got a 2002 XL 4x2, 7 months before I left.
My Question tonight is about the 5.4 L engine. My company trucks all had the 4.6 L and were good engines. What can I expect from the 5.4? How is the gas milage on the 5.4? Is there anything I should be aware of?
Thanks for you help guys and I hope to check in and post often. Hopefully my questions will get more intellegent.

Welcome !! I had a 2000 5.4 XL for 4 years. It had no problems except serpentine belt squeak and a rear end whine (the 5.4's get a different rear end; a 9.75" instead of a 8.8"). I've driven many configurations of F-150s as well and the 5.4 has a healthy feel of power with marginal mpg loss. 2000 is the last year that F-150s may have door cracks and is well within the year of spark plug thread failure. It sounds like a nice truck and good luck with it.
