i have a 2001 F150 V6 engine.the service engine soon light came on at 1500 miles.it passed inspection last year with it on.it failed this year because it is on.any ideas what it could be?im in Texas

Take it to an auto parts store and have the codes read. Just call around to different auto parts stores in the yellow pages until you find one that will read OBDII codes for you.

 

Don't know what part of Texas you are in, but I'm in the Ft Worth area and Autozone is the only store around here that will pull the code for free. Get the codes and repost. Hope this helps.

We have a car that has had the CEL stuck on for a few years now and it passes inspection.

Are you sure the light is the actual reason it wont pass?

I think it may be whatever the reason the CEL is on is causing you not to pass emissions standards.

But go to an autozone and they will pull codes for free.
