Rough Cold Start

I got in my truck yesterday evening, and it took two tries to get the engine to even turnover and start. I had it parked facing uphill on my driveway for the past day or so. When I finally got it started, the engine was running VERY rough and at a high idle (appx 1200) for a little while.. so I sat there and kind of let it run while I freaked hoping for it to go away.

When the idle rpms went down some, I backed out into the street (flat, like the rest of Miami), and it was still idling high, but not as rough. I let it run a little more, and i turned it off and started it again. Still a bit of a rough start--but not having to turn over as much, or idling as high.

So off I went, drove & handled fine... at my friends house, I was able to start it normally. Didn't have any more problems the rest of the night.

... what gives?

I've parked it facing uphill for long periods before, and nothing like that has happened. I figured maybe all of the fuel drained out of the engine & line somehow overnight.

Has this happened to anyone here before?

New trucks aren't supposed to do this.......

when it gets really cold here in OH, mine does the same thing. i figured it to be just a cold-starter by nature since mine did what you described from it's very first winter and only a few thousand miles ( i bought it brand new). once the temp comes up, it runs normal. i haven't had to do any engine service other than routine maintenence, and i'm pushing 87,000 miles. it's a 4.6 and my cousin mentioned his 5.4 acts like that sometimes. i've even seen it in the summer after it has been sitting for 3-4 days.

I have about 4,000 miles on it, but this is Miami, and it hardly ever gets below 50! It's been at least 70 this whole week...

The same thing happend to me too. Parked at the airport all day. It was just below 30F when I left in the morning. Came back and it was about 34F. I had to crank it 4 times before my truck started. The green light on my battery still was bright. Couple days ago, I reset the computer just to see what would happen and it didn't reoccur. I have a 2000 4.6L with 112K.

I'm wavering on getting a new battery but until other signs present themselves, I'm crossing my fingers
