I have a 1998 Reg cab F150 4x4 with a 4.6 V8. I will be driving and all of a sudden the engine cuts out and almost dies. The engine will idle fine in park or nuetral, but as soon as I put it in gear the truck will putt along at 20 mph. (With the accelarator to the floor) I decided to change the fuel filter hoping this would be an easy fix. The truck drove fine for about an hour then it happened again. I then changed the fuel pump. The problem still happened. The check engine light did come on, but it went off again. I need help!!

 

take it to Auto Zone and have the code scanned. just b/c the CE light went off, there can sitll be a code. Keep us posted.
