Quick 150 Question, Please Read!
Happy Holidays All!
I was looking at a 02 150 Fx4 yestorday. I noticed something that might be an indicator of a accident. The hood "bumpers" for lack of a better work were painted exterior truck color. These are the bumpers that you can adjust to raise/lower the front of the hood. I would assume they should have been BLACK not RED!
Could someone check under there hood real fast and let me know if I'm jumping the gun here. A few other underhood items were out of sorts, so to speak but the bumpers left me puzzled.
Best Regards All!

I have an 01 bought it new off the lot. My truck is silver and the hood stops (rubber) have silver paint on them as well. Never been in an accident or had anything re-painted, just came that way from the factor.
Usually if something is done by a body shop they would mask them off before painting. Anyhow since mine are painted the same exterior color as my truck I would say it is normal, at least for some, to be painted.
I would tell you to call a dealer but they may not know. You could stop by a Ford dealer and look at some used Fords and see if those are painted as well. That may help ease your mind...

Thanks for all the replys. I guess it's perhaps a different plant, different final product thing. If the large black cover <that has the belt diagram and more on it> had not been missing hardware, and loose I would have never even given this a 2nd glance. I just put 2 and 2 together and came up with.... well you get the point.
Going to look at a very low mile 4x4 tomorrow. White..... which is a bummer as I had my heart kinda/sorta set on bright red. Anyone have any clues to where I can find a axle code <door jam> decoder so I don't have to crawl under this truck to read the tag on the axle?
Thanks again!

Mine are black, seems to be a 98/99 assembly change. Cheaper to leave them on during painting. The loose or missing hardware could've been a grill change, or radiator work, or fan clutch, etc. Doesn't mean it was in an accident. There's a tag on the bottom front of the core support behind the bumper. I'm pretty certain it will say "original" on it. I remember mine saying that. A little hard to find, but worth it for detective work
