leaking freeze plug?

My girlfriend has a 92 crown victoria with a 4.6L engine, it is leaking coolant badly between the engine and transmission, I've searched everywhere for the leak and finally decided it must be a freeze plug in the rear of the engine.
I removed the transmission and noticed 2 freeze plugs side by side and an empty hole in the middle above the crankshaft seal, the water is coming from this empty hole, does anyone know if this hole takes a freeze plug?

I question this because it does look like a freeze plug hole but if there was one there before the leak started I think I would have found pieces of it in the bellhousing area and I found nothing.

Please help someone before my girlfriend kills me.
Thank you

yes I found the leak and it was not the freeze plug/s
under the intake manifold there is a hose that bursted.

I knew it was next to impossible for a car to pop a freeze plug from overheating, I dont understand why ford would put a rubber hose under an intake though, guess thats why I drive a chevy.
