Actually...
Hey...Actually, it's got over 10,000 km on it already...We've had it about 4 months now. And I don't 'beat' it, per say. I've got a licence, so i was driving it on my own time, on which my dad knew about. He said if it comes back wrecked, or with the tires bald, i'm gonna be finding somewhere else to live. (I respect his property, to tell you the truth...So i'm not stupid with his truck) JMC...By manual shifting, you mean going from first to second at 5,000? Then to Drive at 5,000 also? Have to try that out...So nobody else has heard about the O/D Trick? I tried it tonight, and it seemed like it made somewhat of a difference, but mind you I didnt go past 60...It seemed to make a difference out of the hole though...Am I just imagining things? Thanks for the imput so far!
Hope you have first and last months rent, and a healthy deposit saved up. It sounds like you may need it.
Please tell us you're not going to manual shift that poor truck at 5 grand?? Mine never passes 4800 on it's own, with a chip. I'm pretty sure if he knew what you're doing to his truck, you would never see the inside of it again.,,,,98
Get your transmission fixed, and beat on your own truck.

I don't think OD on/off will make any difference from a stop. The tranny will start in 1st gear regardless of what position the tranny is in (2nd being the only exception . . . if you put the tranny in 2nd from a stop it will start from 2nd).
I wouldn't manual shift it at 5,000 RPM either . . . especially in a truck that wasn't my own. You are not going to win many races with that truck. It is a good vehicle for what it is intended for, however, it is not a sports car! Be thankful your dad lets you drive it. I somehow doubt he would if he knew you were racing with it and driving it up to 150 km/h.
Just pray that you don't blow a tire at those speeds or god forbid run into someone else while you are racing a half ton truck . . .

My son told that my truck was being beat on. Unfortunately it was my 14 yr old that told me my older son was doing the beating. :o
1994,
If you beat on your dad's truck he will find out sooner or later.

HI!... All the O/D button does is disable the O/D from engaging. It does NO other function than that. It WILL NOT make the engine rev higher in the other gears, It WILL NOT give you a lower 1ST gear. It does OTHING but give you the option of having O/D engage or not. O/D OFF, or O/D on that's it!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also ALL F-150's have a top speed limiter, you can not delete the top speed limiter by screwing with the O/D button. The only way to get the top speed limiter removed is to get a chip or the PCM re-flashed with a micro tuner.

Well....
I don't really beat it on it. My dad uses it for our racehorses, and it does a great job at that. But once and awhile, i'd like it to blow away some little riceburner that pulls up next to me at a light, thinkin' he's the ****. It's nice to put them japscraps in their place.
I was just shocked when i got beat by a 4 cyl cavalier. It blew me away, and I was just sharing some comments on that. I respect my Dad's property, and Dont wanna lose the priveledge of driving his great looking truck. Does anyone think my '94 5.8 Could take this truck? I know it's only got 210 horses, but it's also got 310 ft/lbs of torque, making for a nice launch. Well, whaddya think?

I went from a well modded 1990 5.0 Mustang to my 2003 F150 XTR with the 4.6 and I find it to be quite good on power. Once the tach reaches 3000rpm it picks up very well and scoots.
I think your just expecting way too much. Those light weight Cavaqueers are putting out about 140 or so HP so they are no slouches for power either.
Here is my F150
