squealing noise from steering(turning wheel)

hoping someone can help, my truck is making a squeling noise when I turn the wheel, sounds like its coming from under the hood. PS is fine and the fluid is topped off. any suggestions.
Thanks.

This might seem obvious but is the belt tight?
Turning the wheel loads up the power steering pump so a loose belt will squeal.

Does it only happen at slower speeds (ie, under 20MPH)?

its most likely the pitman arm. you need to grease it, but there is no grease fitting on it. you will have to get a grease neddle and punch a small hole in the rubber boot, and fill it with grease. also, if this not not stop the squealing, you may need to replace the pitman arm, but greasing it should solve the problem.

I had the exact sqeal and had the pitman arm replaced. That fixed the problem. I'm trying to drill and tap a grease fitting so I can keep the new one from sqealing in the future.

I had a similar problem and it was the pitman arm. I also had a squeak coming from my ball joints when any load was put on the front end (including turning the wheels). This was fixed by some greasing them.

the idler arm has grease fittings on it dont forget to do that one too. it will cause a squeak also sometimes.
